IT proudly provides the computer systems, security, IT services and governance that support AGLC’s businesses, including the operation & support of mission critical gaming, liquor and corporate systems running on a variety of computing platforms. IT ensures the stability and performance of a Local/Wide Area Network, which supports over 1,200 gaming locations and more than 2,000 computers/tablets, 150 physical and 2,000 virtual servers distributed across six corporate offices, casinos, RECs and bingo halls. IT provides leadership in the use of information technology, data and systems to help the AGLC achieve business goals and objectives.

JOB SUMMARY:

This is not a traditional BI role. This is a chance to design, build, and scale the data platforms that drive analytics, automations, AI, and mission-critical decisions. As a Business Intelligence Architect, you’ll be at the center of our data ecosystem - engineering reliable, high-performance pipelines and platforms that teams trust and leaders rely on.

 

You will design modern data platforms and analytics architectures, blending hands‑on engineering expertise with architectural leadership. This role blends deep technical execution with strategic architectural thinking, making it perfect for someone who wants to stay close to the technology while shaping the analytics vision of the AGLC iGaming Regulatory business and the enterprise.

 

 Architecture

  • Define and maintain the enterprise BI and analytics architecture, from curated data layers to dashboards and self‑service analytics.
  • Provide architectural guidance on BI tools and platforms.

 

Data Engineering & Platform Design

  • Architect, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines for structured and semi‑structured data using modern ELT/ETL patterns.
  • Lead the architecture of enterprise data platforms (data warehouse, data lake, or lakehouse).
  • Ensure performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and security across data ingestion and transformation layers.
  • Establish standards for data engineering practices, including version control, testing, and monitoring.

 

Build for Scale, Speed, and the Future

  • Enable high‑value use cases such as self‑service analytics, AI/ML, and advanced reporting
  • Partner with other architects to deliver resilient, secure, and scalable data engineering architectures

 

Design the Data Foundation:

  • Architect enterprise‑wide data solutions for applications, platforms, analytics to enable digital transformation
  • Design and present data domains that bring clarity and consistency to complex data structures and relationships

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in developing and supporting data engineering solutions and practices.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Databricks platform.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, with experience with Apache spark.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and tools, with the ability to assess model quality and enforce data standards.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS)
  • Strong Experience with PowerBI, Tableau software and/or other data visualization and BI tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate seamlessly with business units.
  • Experience with architectures and platform designs around AI / ML.
  • The following will be considered assets:
    • Databricks certifications
    • Power BI certifications
    • Data engineering certifications
    • Knowledge of Azure Fabric and Synapse Analytics
    • TOGAF, DAMA Certified Data Professional (CDMP) certification
