The Gaming branch is responsible to achieve annual revenue targets through provincially operated gaming activities that align with AGLC's vision of responsible gaming. The branch ensures that Gaming activities in the province are operated with integrity and social responsibility, aligning with Gaming Regulations and Board Policy and deliver on commitments to stakeholders in the province of Alberta.
Gaming activities included Electronic Gaming Machines (EGMs), Electronic Table Games (ETGs), Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs), Lottery and Online Gambling.

JOB SUMMARY
When an electronic device fails, do you immediately want to know why? Are you the person who would rather troubleshoot a circuit board to the component level and enjoy tracking down elusive faults, analyzing signals and restoring electronics that others have written off? AGLC is seeking two Electronics Repair Technologists who are passionate about board-level diagnostics, repair, and continuous improvement.
In the role, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, testing, repairing, and validating a diverse range of electronic and electromechanical equipment that supports Alberta's gaming and lottery operations. Using advanced tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, diagnostic software, rework stations and specialized test equipment, you'll perform component-level troubleshooting, surface-mount repair, root-cause analysis, and failure investigations on complex systems.
Beyond repair work, you'll have the opportunity to design and build custom test solutions, analyze recurring equipment failures, and contribute to improvements that enhance reliability and performance across the operation. This isn't a parts-swapping role, it's an opportunity to apply deep technical expertise, critical thinking, and creativity to solve challenging problems and bring sophisticated equipment back to life.

What you'll be doing:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, test, repair, and verify electronic and mechanical components at the component level.
- Perform circuit analysis and root cause investigations on complex electronic systems.
- Repair and support equipment including gaming terminals, lottery devices, printers, bill acceptors, monitors, redemption kiosks, and other specialized equipment.
- Design, build, and maintain custom test equipment, test jigs, and diagnostic tools.
- Identify recurring failure trends and recommend long-term solutions to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
- Research replacement parts and components, including obsolete and hard-to-source electronics.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting guidance to field technicians and internal stakeholders.
- Participate in evaluating new equipment and technologies
- Train and mentor technical staff and students on repair procedures and best practices.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- 2+ years of experience troubleshooting, analyzing, and repairing electronic circuits at the component level.
- Strong understanding of electronic diagnostics, circuit analysis, and repair techniques.
- Experience working with surface-mount technology (SMT) and electronic test equipment.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and manage multiple repair projects.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Assets include:
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation
- Electronics manufacturing and repair
- Industrial electronics or automation
- Telecommunications equipment repair
- Test and measurement equipment
- Field service or maintenance environments
- Gaming, lottery, slot machine, or VLT repair
- Military or aerospace electronics maintenance
Gaming industry experience is not required. We welcome applicants with strong electronics troubleshooting and repair experience from a variety of industries.
