JOB SUMMARY

This is a temporary role until on or before September 11, 2026 with the possibility of extension

 

AGLC is seeking an organized and detail‑orientated administrative professional to join the Liquor and Cannabis Licensing team as a Liquor/Cannabis Licensing Specialist. This role provides administrative support for the intake, review, and processing of licensing and registration applications related to liquor, cannabis, and special events, in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, and regulatory guidelines.

 

The Liquor/Cannabis Licensing Specialist works with members of the public, applicants, industry representatives, and other regulatory organizations, responding to inquiries, providing procedural information, and supporting applicants throughout the licensing process. The role emphasizes professionalism, respect, and consistent service delivery within a public‑facing regulatory environment.

 

Key responsibilities include processing applications, preparing and maintaining records, supporting compliance‑related activities, and contributing to the effective day‑to‑day operation of licensing programs. The position operates within established administrative systems and procedures and requires coordination with internal teams and external partners.

 

The Liquor/Cannabis Licensing Specialist is responsible for managing assigned files independently while also working collaboratively with colleagues to support program outcomes. Through accurate administration and responsive service, the role contributes to regulatory integrity while promoting transparency, fairness, and accessibility in licensing and registration processes.

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • A High School Diploma 
  • 3 years of administrative experience in reviewing, interpreting and applying legislation, policies, procedures or guideline within a structured framework.
  • Experience reviewing and working with documentation related to regulatory or business requirements, such as agreements or records, to support informed decision‑making.
  • Ability to effectively use standard office and information management systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally when providing information, responding to inquiries, and preparing correspondence.
  • Ability to interact respectfully and collaboratively with the public, internal teams, and external partners, while also managing assigned work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and meet established timelines within a regulated and process‑driven environment.
  • Post‑secondary education in a related field (e.g., administration, public policy, legal studies, or business) is considered an asset.
