ABOUT LIQUOR & CANNABIS

The Liquor & Cannabis Division resides within Business Development and supports innovative and progressive developments in AGLC’s liquor and cannabis businesses. AGLC is responsible for managing the supply chains of both lines of business in Alberta and all aspects of AGLC’s role in ensuring product fulfillment to downstream private retail enterprises. For Cannabis this includes evaluating incoming products, inventory management, and ensuring the highest quality of products are provided to Albertans. For Liquor this includes registration of liquor products, onboarding and supporting Alberta liquor manufacturers, and performing customs clearances for all liquor imported into the province. The division ensures adherence to applicable federal and provincial legislation and works closely with manufacturers, suppliers, agencies, licensed producers, liquor and cannabis licensees, and related associations. The division is supported by three branches: Stakeholder Management, Operations, and Supply Chain & Warehousing.

JOB SUMMARY

Please note: This is a temporary position until June 2nd 2026

 

Are you a systems thinker with a passion for optimizing digital platforms and business processes? Reporting to the Director, Operations Liquor & Cannabis, the Manager, Business Platforms & Processes plays a pivotal role in enhancing the performance, usability, and strategic alignment of liquor and cannabis business systems. This position will take a crucial role in the design and continuous improvement of digital platforms, manage cross-functional divisional projects, and drive process innovation to support operational excellence across the division.

  • Business lead for the development and optimization of cannabis and liquor business platforms, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and user needs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to enhance B2B eCommerce user experience and system functionality.
  • Oversee divisional project delivery, maintain project tracking tools, and support effective execution of business initiatives.
  • Manage branding, marketing, and communications to ensure consistency with AGLC’s corporate identity.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and ensure accurate data integration across systems and partners.
  • Support the development and prioritization of platform roadmaps, release schedules, and user acceptance testing.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
    • Equivalent Supervisory/leadership experience may be considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, or application development and design or working within an IT environment.
  • eCommerce professional who is self-driven, puts customers first, is data driven, and is passionate about creating exceptional online shopping and product experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex systems, prioritize features, and enhance user experience.
  • Strong understanding of Business Process Management (BPM) and project delivery lifecycles.
  • Proficiency in tools such as JIRA and experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.
