ABOUT BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICE – CUSTOMER CARE

The Business Development Office – Customer Care branch is responsible for providing efficient and effective delivery of support services required for all provincial gaming retail networks, inclusive of over 2800 Lotto Spot retailers, over 700 VLT retailers and 29 Casinos/Racing Entertainment Centres as well as support for the Cannabis retail network, which is comprised of over 750 cannabis retailers. Our mission is to support our business teams and their achievement of annual revenue targets through provincially operated gaming and cannabis activities that align with AGLC's vision of responsible gaming and delivery of safe cannabis. Customer Care enhances the quality of customer interactions, ensuring quality assurance, compliance, regulatory and legal obligations are met across all interactions.

AGLC call centres support all retail networks in the Province of Alberta, albertacannabis.org, provide dispatch support to AGLC technicians, triage support for IT, Regulatory, Business Development Office teams and public support calls including retailer training programs and the Customer Complaint lines.

JOB SUMMARY

Do you have a positive attitude and thrive on providing a welcoming experience for stakeholders interacting with Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC)? Player Services is looking for an energetic individual to join our team as a Receptionist in the St. Albert head office.

 

The Receptionist is the initial point of contact for anyone arriving at the St. Albert office of AGLC. The position provideS a welcoming and safe connection point and reception environment for employees, customers accessing services or information, stakeholders, key partners, and the wider community seeking to connect and access services. As the first point of contact for the organization, this role provides effective and efficient quality customer focused service and facilitates access to information and support services. The role also provides operational and administrative services that enable AGLC to support and deliver services to stakeholders and customers in a safe, clean, effective, and professionally presented environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist and/or direct all inquiries from the public, customers, and staff in a friendly professional manner.
  • Maintain security by following procedures, managing the building log, and issuing visitor badges.
  • Maintain the reception area, keeping it clean and free of clutter.
  • Work in collaboration with divisional partners including front security and Prize Payout Office.
  • Verify, accept, and process financial transactions for Liquor and Cannabis.
  • Maintain knowledge of divisional business processes to recognize and identify documents, parcels and courier packages entering AGLC.
  • Assist Player Services with Lottery Ticket kiosk functionality, provide financial records and operational support.  This includes maintenance of spreadsheets and other documents to coordinate, track or report information.
  • Assist Player Services with data processing through Reception SharePoint. 
  • Provide application forms to individuals seeking to enroll in land‑based or iGaming gambling self‑exclusion programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.  These may include projects assigned by AGLC to Player Services within the scope of the Customer Care division.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma
  • At least one (1) year of related experience in a comparable position dealing with members of the public, front desk, mailroom, and administrative services
  • An administrative professional certificate would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office SharePoint and related office systems.
  • Ability to work independently & cooperatively with an elevated level of accuracy (detail-oriented).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, along with a positive attitude in dealing with a variety of in-person stakeholders.  This includes difficult customers.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in dealing with confidential information.
  • Ability to develop positive, professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
