The Gaming branch is responsible to achieve annual revenue targets through provincially operated gaming activities that align with AGLC's vision of responsible gaming. The branch ensures that Gaming activities in the province are operated with integrity and social responsibility, aligning with Gaming Regulations and Board Policy and deliver on commitments to stakeholders in the province of Alberta.
Gaming activities included Electronic Gaming Machines (EGMs), Electronic Table Games (ETGs), Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs), Lottery and Online Gambling.

Are you ready to help shape the future of sports betting in Alberta? The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) is looking for a Retail Sportsbook Specialist to support the launch and ongoing operations of Play Alberta’s retail sportsbook extension. This is an exciting opportunity to combine strategic thinking, operational expertise, and a passion for sports in a growing industry.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Gaming, you will:
- Lead the implementation and day-to-day operations of Play Alberta’s Retail Sportsbook.
- Act as the key liaison between casinos, sports venues, and Play Alberta’s turnkey service provider.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, social responsibility, and AML standards.
- Drive marketing and player engagement initiatives to grow the retail sportsbook footprint.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in business operations (3–5 years preferred), including marketing, vendor management, sales, or casino operations.
- Knowledge of sportsbook operations and enthusiasm for sports and gaming.
- Strong business development skills and ability to link vendors with retail partners.
- Experience in budget management and roadmap development.
- Collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset with excellent communication skills.
