IT proudly provides the computer systems, security, IT services and governance that support AGLC’s businesses, including the operation & support of mission critical gaming, liquor and corporate systems running on a variety of computing platforms. IT ensures the stability and performance of a Local/Wide Area Network, which supports over 1,200 gaming locations and more than 2,000 computers/tablets, 150 physical and 2,000 virtual servers distributed across six corporate offices, casinos, RECs and bingo halls. IT provides leadership in the use of information technology, data and systems to help the AGLC achieve business goals and objectives.

Salary: $75,282.52 - $103,366.67 * The salary for this position is currently under review as part of AGLC’s broader Non‑Union Compensation review, which is intended to support alignment with market practices. Compensation details for this role may be adjusted following completion of the review.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the support and maintenance of transactional and analytics databases, and the servers on which they are hosted. This role is accountable for maintaining and provisioning database servers, monitoring performance, and performing performance tuning of databases and database objects. You will develop backup and recovery strategies and design and implement disaster recovery procedures, while supporting major incident response and business continuity activities.
In this position, documentation is a critical component of success. You will create, update, and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures as a fundamental part of the role. You will also contribute to database-related projects by providing leadership, planning, and technical expertise, working closely with data architects, analysts, and other IT stakeholders.
You will possess a high level of expertise across all aspects of database support and administration, including planning and estimating resources and timelines, along with a strong understanding of change management, application development, and information systems support.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- A Diploma or Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in database management and server administration roles including:
- 3 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration
- 1 year of experience with Microsoft SQL Server reporting services
- 1 year experience with Microsoft SQL Server integration services
- 1 year of progressive experience leading technical projects within a specific discipline
- Ability to provide after-hours standby support on a rotational basis
The following would be considered assets:
- Experience with DB2 and MySQL database administration
- Experience with ERwin modelling tool, source control and continuous integration tools
- Experience with the administration and troubleshooting of Batch Processing tools such as ActiveBatch
- Microsoft SQL Server certifications
- Expertise in and ability to implement data integrity and security techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor database servers for performance, and to determine, plan, and implement subsequent tuning decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Innovative self-starter, able to manage multiple priorities and workloads.
